Yesterday was the soft opening of Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival. The theme this year is travel with vintage cruise ships and luggage. At the start of the day at 11am the lines were not existent. Around 2pm things really started to pick up and lines began to form, but was still pretty manageable. On our culinary adventure we tried many different dishes and still have more to go!

Hawai’I NEW

Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayo $3.00:  The pork was tender and you could taste the balance of sweet and savory very nicely. The portion was a wee bit smaller than normal sliders.

O’ Canada

Canadian Chedder Cheese Soup $3.75: A classic favorite! Smooth cheese, bacon and beer all rolled into one yummy cup of soup. Even in the hot Florida heat it is a must try.

Maple and Moosehead Beer-glazed Salmon with Barley Salad $4.50: Salmon was delicious! It was cooked perfectly and the maple glaze was just sweet enough. The Barley Salad was just okay. I loved the lentils that they had with it last year.

Moosehead Beer 12 Ounces $6.25: I LOVE this beer. It is a light pale ale and paired nicely with the Salmon.

Brazil

Seared Mahi Mahi with Steamed Rice, Hearts of Palm and Coconut-Lime Sauce $4.50: The Mahi Mahi was flaky and moist. It was a mild tasting fish. The Coconut-Lime Sauce was very tasty and it accompanied the fish well.

LeBlon Frozen Caopirinha Cocktail $7.50 YUM! This cocktail was very lime like and was not bitter at all. It was smooth and refreshing.

Argentina

Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Puree $5.00: One of the best dishes I had for the day! The beef was tender and the Chimichurri was amazing! It has garlic and oil so be careful not to spill with the big portion.  The puree was delicious too and added nicely to the sauce.

Caribbean NEW

Jerk Spiced Chicken Drumstick with Mango Salsa $3.25: Mildly spiced chicken not of the usual very spicy variety. More pepper than heat. The Salsa was cooling and very sweet. It complimented the chicken well. It is not easy to eat since you are dunking a drumstick into the salsa.

Frozen Rock Coconut Mojito $ 7.50: Lots of lime flavor and tart!

Mexico

Crispy Shrimp Taco with Chipotle Lime Mayo & Cabbage on a Flour Tortilla $4.95: Shrimp were crispy and the Mayo was delicious! I wanted more of it. It had the perfect amount of spice and citrus. The Cabbage gave the taco a nice consistency to the tortilla.
